The Bronze Serpent Recovery Group is specifically made to be a safe and anonymous place for people to embrace recovery through a Catholic lens. It is spiritual and religious in its focus on recovery. The meeting is intentionally broad in that people may be recovering from a variety of things that can harm the human person physically and spiritually, such as alcohol, drugs, food, adult children of alcoholics, the internet and more. Anyone who is in recovery is welcome to attend.
The Bronze Serpent is a reference to the serpent God asked Moses to fashion out of bronze in Numbers 21. God sent real snakes amongst the people as they were complaining, yet again, and many of them were bitten. God promised them healing if they would ignore the real snakes and look at the serpent Moses had made. The people who looked at this serpent were saved from their affliction. The lesson for us is that we should look to God even when there are bad things around us!
