Pentecost Sunday
May 19, 2024

But if you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are obvious: immorality, impurity, lust, idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness, dissensions, factions, occasions of envy, drinking bouts, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

from one of the options for the 2nd reading on Pentecost, Galatians 5:18-24

Let us pray for and support those in our country and around the world who are being moved by the Holy Spirit to champion just causes, such as the end to unjust laws that result in the slaughter of innocent unborn lives through abortion, despite persecution by government authorities and others.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful!

May 19, 2024 Pentecost Bulletin - Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful

Today, we have a blessed celebration of the Holy Spirit who is poured out for us and in us, so that we might have life to the full. We have the responsibility to make a good dwelling within our heart and life for the Holy Spirit. This means that we respect our body as the Temple of the Holy Spirit, not putting into it substances that are harmful. This means that we drive sin away by the power with which we are equipped by the Holy Spirit. This means that we settle our emotions and desires to be docile before Our God.

Have a blessed and holy Pentecost,
Very Rev. Samuel Moses Brown

Very Rev. Samuel Moses Brown

May 12, 2024 Seventh Sunday of Easter - Ascension Bulletin - Follow Him to Eternity
This weekend, we celebrate the Ascension of Jesus Christ into Heaven which is normally celebrated on Thursday since the original event happened on a Thursday. It has been transferred to Sunday in this ecclesial province. The point of the celebration is to reflect upon the origins of Our Lord and how we can come to that same place, Heaven. We can be with Him forever! All we have to do is follow Him as this body. He is our Head and has led us to a special place. We as His obedient Body have to follow Him so that we might dwell with Him.

God bless you all,
Very Rev. Samuel Moses Brown

May 5, 2024 Sixth Sunday of Easter Bulletin - Our Relationship with God
For a third week in a row, we have readings that dwell upon our relationship with our God. How special He is who seeks to save us. Furthermore, that He calls us His friends! We have a special and privileged relationship with Him through the special and unique covenant that He made with us and for us. He seeks to have us close to Him as friends. We get to hear His words, know Him personally, experience His love in the Sacraments. Most especially, we have to remember the Sacrament of the Eucharist. He wants us to consume His very Body and Blood, so that we might have life within us. He wants us to spend time with him before the Blessed Sacrament to build up our relationship with Him. He wants us to be with Him in Heaven.

Amen to that!
Very Rev. Samuel Moses Brown

Very Rev. Samuel Moses Brown

April 28, 2024 Fifth Sunday of Easter Bulletin - We are the branches
Similar to last week, we see how we are connected to Jesus. This time we have an analogy of botany. In the same way that a branch cannot have life within it if it is disconnected from the vine, we cannot have life within us if we are disconnected from Jesus. We need Him in order to live. It's good for us to remember that and to keep it in mind throughout our day. Though we feel independent and autonomous, we are in fact dependent on Jesus Christ, the True Vine.

Your Pastor,
Fr. Samuel Moses Brown

Fr. Samuel Moses Brown

April 21, 2024 Fourth Sunday of Easter Bulletin - Jesus is Our Shepherd

Easter is the perfect time for Christians to remember the life and saying of Jesus. Even the Apostles used the original time in between the Resurrection and the Ascension as a time of reflection upon Jesus' words. The words we have today are most worthy of reflection. We read that we are sheep and that Jesus is our Shepherd. This is meant to strengthen our sense of closeness with Our Lord who lays down His life for our life. He sacrifices Himself so that we may live and we should be willing then to follow Him. That means that it is no secret that we are Christians and disciples of the Lord. We tell others about Him. We pray regularly and read Scripture. We manifest our faith before others that they may also believe in the One who died and rose for us all.

Happy Easter,
Very Rev. Samuel Moses Brown

Felices Pascuas,
Very Rev. Samuel Moses Brown
